How long have you been involved with First Tee-Phoenix?

I joined the Board two and a half years ago

Why did you choose to join First Tee-Phoenix?

I love the mission of the First Tee and want to help the organization reach as many kids as possible in the greater Phoenix area.

How would you best describe your level of play?

I’ve been a single digit handicap for most of my life, and I’m always trying to be better.

What’s your favorite golf course?

I grew up playing Flint Golf Club. It’s still my favorite course.

Do you have another favorite hobby/pastime?

My recent favorite pastime is spending time with my two grandchildren! I also love to cook and do needlepoint.

What is your highest level of education?

Bachelors Degree

Which college or university did you attend?

Northwestern University

What’s your profession and why did you choose it?

I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and worked in the oil industry in Houston until being a mom to four kids became my chosen profession.  🙂

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I mostly dreamed about being a professional golfer.

Who was your mentor and how did they empower you?

I don’t know if a family member can be called a mentor, but my grandmother was always an inspiration to me.  She played golf until she was 95 years old, she valued her friends, always tried to help people, and just lived a really authentic life.  She definitely empowered me to do the same.

If you could give a younger person career advice, what would it be?

Don’t let an educational path direct you into a career that you don’t love.  Keep an open mind, and know that it’s never too late to follow a passion.
