At First Tee – Phoenix, our Volunteers play a vital role in shaping the lives of young participants. As a Volunteer, you’ll serve as a positive mentor to kids and teens from diverse backgrounds, guiding them through golf and life lessons that build inner strength and self-confidence.

Why Become a Volunteer?

  • Become a Mentor: Build meaningful relationships with youth and make a real impact in just two or three hours a week.
  • Share your love of golf: If you have an interest in golf and positively impacting the lives of youth, there are many ways to get involved!
  • Supportive Community: Join a team of passionate individuals dedicated to empowering the next generation.
  • Spend time outside and stay active: And learn golf tips along the way

Training and Support:
We’ll ensure you feel confident and prepared with research-backed training that includes:

  • Step-by-step guidance for leading lessons and activities.
  • Tools for positive youth development.
  • Methods to create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces.

Volunteer Opportunities

You can make a difference! There are many ways to contribute to First Tee – Phoenix programs both on and off the course.

Ways to empower youth through golf:

  • On-Course Programming Support: Assist with on-course programming, clinics and tournaments.
    • Support with set up, creating a safe and supporting environment and mentorship
  • Fundraising: Help organize and execute fundraising initiatives.
    • Join a committee!
  • Outreach Events: Help execute community activations.
    • Run a booth and help with clinics
  • Operations: Provide behind-the-scenes support to keep our programs running smoothly.
    • Organize the warehouse and provide support to Golf Gear for Good
  1. Complete the Volunteer Interest Form: https://firstteephoenix.org/volunteer-interest-form/
    • After submission, a First Tee-Phoenix staff member will contact you to discuss your interests and volunteer opportunities.
  2. Complete the Background Check
    • Cost: FREE
    • Frequency: Every 2 years (This is required to maintain a safe environment for all participants)
  3. Complete SafeSport Certification
    • Frequency: Annually (SafeSport training helps ensure a safe and respectful space for youth)
  4. Get Involved! Once you’ve completed the background check and SafeSport certification, a First Tee-Phoenix staff member will connect you with volunteer opportunities, such as:
    • On-Course Programming Support: Assist with on-course programming, clinics and tournaments.
    • Fundraising: Help organize and execute fundraising initiatives.
      • Join a committee!
    • Outreach Events: Help execute community activations.
      • Run a booth and help with clinics
    • Warehouse: Help to sort and organize golf equipment donations & apparel at our Golf Gear for GoodTM  Warehouse
    • Operations: Provide behind-the-scenes support to keep our programs running smoothly.
