First Tee-Phoenix Inspira Day Brings Golf, Mentorship and Opportunity to Local Youth

First Tee-Phoenix’s Inspira Initiative Connects Latino Youth to Opportunity Through Golf at the 2026 Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Welcoming 150 Students from Local Title I Schools to Phoenix Country Club for a Championship Experience

PHOENIX, Ariz. (Nov. 9, 2026) – On Monday, November 9, 2026, First Tee-Phoenix and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship will welcome 150 students from local Title I schools with high Latino populations to Phoenix Country Club for Inspira Day, a special experience held during the PGA Tour Champions season-ending championship and designed to expand access, opportunity, and belonging for Latino youth and families through the game of golf.

Inspira Day is part of Inspira, a First Tee-Phoenix initiative that creates more access, support, and opportunity for Latino youth and families across the Valley. Through meaningful experiences, community partnerships, and connections to continued programming, Inspira helps families see golf as a place where they belong and where new possibilities can take shape.

Students attending Inspira Day have already been introduced to golf and character-building lessons through the First Tee School Program in their PE classes. The event builds on that foundation by bringing students to a championship venue where they can experience the game in a new way, connect with mentors and role models, and discover opportunities available through First Tee-Phoenix beyond the classroom.

For many participants, it will be their first time attending a professional golf tournament or experiencing a golf course firsthand. Through interactive activities and exposure to the championship environment, students will gain confidence while seeing pathways that may have previously felt out of reach.

“Thank you to the PGA Tour Champions and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship for helping make Inspira Day possible,” said Erin McDonough, CEO & Executive Director of First Tee-Phoenix. “Through Inspira, we’re creating more opportunities for Latino youth and families to see themselves in the game of golf. Experiences like Inspira Day help build that bridge by fostering a sense of belonging and connecting young people to new possibilities.”

“We’re excited to welcome students to Phoenix Country Club and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship,” said Tiffany Nelson-Thorne, Executive Director of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. “Creating opportunities to connect with our community is an important part of this event, and we’re proud to partner with First Tee-Phoenix to help young people feel inspired, included, and welcomed into the game.”

Inspira Day reflects First Tee-Phoenix’s commitment to ensuring that more young people and families have access to experiences that build confidence, create belonging, and open doors to future opportunities. By intentionally connecting with Latino youth and families, First Tee-Phoenix is helping create a more inclusive future for the game while strengthening pathways to youth development and long-term participation.
