Lani Tran, Marketing & Communications Assistant

Hello! I’m Leilani Tran, though most people know me as Lani, and I’m excited to join First Tee – Phoenix as the Marketing and Communications Assistant. I’m a first‑generation Arizona native and Arizona State University alumna, passionate about creativity, storytelling, and community connection.  I began my career as a hairstylist at 17 while attending school for business and psychology, where I discovered how creativity, communication, and trust intersect. Working closely with clients helped shape my passion for bringing others’ visions to life and using creative work to build confidence and connection. I expanded into multimedia design, earning an associate degree in design and psychology and working as a freelance designer across a wide range of projects.

During my undergraduate studies, I balanced education with hands‑on creative work. I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a focus in Graphic Information Technology (GIT) from ASU, concentrating on full‑stack design. I completed my Master’s degree a year later, focusing on immersive design blending technology, storytelling, and user experience.

As someone with a multicultural background, I bring a perspective shaped by navigating diverse spaces and communities. These experiences have fueled my passion for using design and storytelling to bridge communication gaps and create work that feels accessible and inclusive. While I don’t come from a traditional golf background, that perspective allows me to approach First Tee – Phoenix with fresh eyes, helping ensure our messaging welcomes youth and families who may not initially see themselves in the game.
